I grew up in a small town in South Texas with only six thousand people. My mother was a school teacher, and my father was a farmer. My childhood was nothing short of perfect, thanks to my hardworking parents. As a sensitive kid, my parents, belonging to a different generation, lacked the tools I needed to succeed. The perfection they created set a standard I lived by, leading to covert narcissistic tendencies and rigid black-and-white standards that proved challenging in the real world. This drove me to seek more, as the knowledge I had obtained felt incomplete.

I completed college, earning a degree because it was essential to my parents, although I wasn't a good student at the time and lacked the desire to learn. I chose an easy degree that wasn't aligned with my purpose. After working in my field, I got laid off after 9/11, which turned out to be a blessing. This allowed me to transition into a personal trainer role, a job closer to my purpose.

For almost 17 years, I trained with diverse individuals, ranging from 13 to 91 years old. I even had a client pass away from old age under my care. I realized that not only physical but also mental health significantly impacts overall well-being. This insight led me to shift my focus from physical training to overall wellness and become a personal coach, addressing two of the three tenets I coach. I'm now following my personal purpose of helping others age well through www.heyjustbe.com.

I believe I grappled with challenges common to my generation, Generation X. We witnessed the boom of almost everything, and like generations before us, my parents aspired for improvement and perfection. However, the pursuit of this ideal, coupled with a rigid, black-and-white perspective, shielded me from harsh realities, fostering covert narcissistic tendencies. I developed vertical relationships, hindering me from taking unguaranteed chances and forming genuine connections with real friends.

I'm Scottie, your functional aging specialist. Together, we co-create your optimal mental, physical, and metaphysical health. Your health comprises three tenets, and when you infuse intention, preparation, and action into them, you unlock the true wealth of health. But what does that mean? Health isn't a singular aspect; it encompasses three dimensions. It's about when you decide to act, creating a plan that empowers excellence across all facets of your life. Why choose this path? I've been fortunate to collaborate with individuals of varying ages, personalities, and physical attributes. From working with someone as young as 13 to supporting a client through their last 12 years of life, my personal journey spanning over 20 years has focused on mental, physical, and metaphysical growth, offering valuable insights into the aging process. So, how does this work for you? Assess your current position. If you can halt regression and initiate new progressions, you'll genuinely appreciate the remaining years of your life.
